MatchDay Terms of Service

Welcome to MatchDay! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the MatchDay mobile application and services ("Service"). Please read these Terms carefully before using our Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using MatchDay, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not access or use the Service. These Terms apply to all users, including event hosts, participants, and visitors.

2. Description of Service

MatchDay is a platform that connects people who want to play casual sports. Our Service allows users to:

  • Create and manage sports events/games
  • Discover nearby sports events using location-based search
  • Join events and coordinate with other participants
  • Review and rate events and hosts
  • Manage event participants and waitlists
  • Receive notifications about events and updates
  • Upload event images and profile photos
  • Make voluntary donations to support the platform

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time, with or without notice.

3. User Accounts and Registration

To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information
  • Maintain and update your information to keep it accurate
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
  • Be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the EEA) to use the Service

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and password. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

4. User Responsibilities and Conduct

You are responsible for your conduct on the platform and agree to:

  • Provide accurate information about events (date, time, location, capacity)
  • Show up to events you commit to joining
  • Respect other users and treat them with courtesy
  • Follow safety guidelines during sports activities
  • Only upload content you have the right to share
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations

5. Event Hosting and Participation

Event Hosts:

  • Are responsible for accurately describing their events
  • Must manage participant capacity and waitlists appropriately
  • Should notify participants of any changes or cancellations
  • May approve or reject participation requests for private events

Participants:

  • Should only join events they can actually attend
  • Must respect event capacity limits
  • Should leave events promptly if they cannot attend
  • Are encouraged to provide honest reviews after events

6. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Harass, threaten, or discriminate against other users
  • Post false, misleading, or fraudulent information
  • Spam or send unsolicited communications
  • Create multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions
  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose
  • Impersonate any person or entity
  • Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
  • Violate any intellectual property rights
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service

Violation of these terms may result in immediate account suspension or termination, and we reserve the right to take legal action where appropriate.

7. Content and Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of content you post, but grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute your content on the Service. You represent that you have the right to grant this license.

MatchDay and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by us and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

8. Reviews and Ratings

Users may submit reviews and ratings for events and hosts. Reviews must be:

  • Honest and based on actual experience
  • Free from harassment, discrimination, or defamation
  • Submitted only after participating in an event

We reserve the right to remove reviews that violate these Terms or our community guidelines.

9. Donations

MatchDay accepts voluntary donations to support platform development and maintenance. Donations:

  • Are voluntary and non-refundable
  • Do not grant any special privileges or access
  • Are processed through third-party payment processors
  • Are subject to the payment processor's terms and conditions

10. Safety and Liability

MatchDay facilitates connections between users but is not responsible for:

  • The safety of sports activities or events
  • Injuries or accidents that occur during events
  • The conduct of other users
  • The accuracy of event information provided by hosts

Users participate in events at their own risk. You should:

  • Take appropriate safety precautions
  • Verify event details before attending
  • Use your judgment when interacting with other users

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MATCHDAY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES AND LIABILITIES RELATED TO USER-GENERATED EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES.

11. Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Our collection and use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information.

12. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for:

  • Violation of these Terms
  • Fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity
  • Extended periods of inactivity

You may delete your account at any time through the app settings. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease, but some information may be retained as described in our Privacy Policy.

13. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MATCHDAY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MatchDay, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, violation of these Terms, or infringement of any rights of another.

15. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes by:

  • Posting the updated Terms in the app
  • Updating the "Last updated" date
  • Sending a notification for significant changes

Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the Service.

16. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration or in a court of competent jurisdiction, as applicable.
